TACLOBAN CITY—At least 12 private elementary and high schools in Eastern Visayas will increase their tuition this school year, according to the regional office of the Department of Education (DepEd). The increase ranged from 5.27 percent to 15.4 percent, just within the rates allowed by the education department, said Rachel Cuevas, DepEd regional education specialist supervisor. Covered by the increase are Samar State College, Catbalogan City; Notre Dame of Abuyog in Abuyog town, Leyte province; Colegio de Sta. Teresita of Laoang in Laoang town, Northern Samar; St. Mary’s Academy of Palo, Leyte; Notre Dame of Jaro in Jaro, Leyte; Cathedral School of La Naval in Naval, Biliran; Holy Child Parish School of Isabel in Isabel, Leyte; St. Joseph Academy in San Jose, Northern Samar; Sto. Niño Academy in Malitbog, Southern Leyte; St. Paul School of Ormoc Foundation in Ormoc City; St. Michael Academy in Catarman, Northern Samar; and St. Mary’s College of Guiuan in Guiuan, Eastern Samar.
