Tutor bags open division crown in Run for I.T. 2

CRISTY Sevellino-Tutor put up a strong performance to win the 16-kilometer open category of the Run For I.T. 2 at the Asiatown I.T. Park in Lahug.

Tutor, once a force to reckon with in the local running scene before leaving the sport for a while for personal reasons, logged one of her best wins since her return by clocking in 1 hour, 11 minutes and 41 seconds to rule the women’s open category.

Meanwhile, Kenyan Josphat Kiptanui continued his winning spree in Cebu as he topped the men’s open category with a time of 53 minutes and 58 seconds.

Mary Jane Beboso trailed Tutor and finished second with a time of 1:13:14 followed by Marichu Luterte, who finished in 1:15:52.

FEATURED STORIES

Local ace Adonis Singson finished second in the men’s side, clocking 57:43 followed by another Kenyan in Francis Kakui, who clocked 58:41.

Abraham Missous was the third Kenyan who managed a podium finish as he won the men’s 8k open category with a time of 26:05.

Joel Delposo placed second (29:53) while Raymark Montecalvo settled for third (29:55).

Andrin sisters took the top two slots in the women’s side with Jhean Andrin (36:35.10)  finishing first and Lovely Fe (36:35.47) winding up second. Merlita Arias Dunkin (41:11) finished third.

Another Andrin, Cherry, placed first in the 4k open category with a time of 18:18. Jorry Ycong placed first in the men’s side, clocking 13:55.

Paul James Zafico (1:08:24) and Emily Rosas (1:19:51) lorded the BPO 16k race.  /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
