Security guard shot dead in Urdaneta City

DAGUPAN CITY — A security guard was shot dead by a co-worker at dawn Sunday in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan province, police said.

Manuel Nillo Tani, 38, did not make it to a hospital alive after he was shot twice at about 12:15 a.m. in Barangay (village) Sto. Domingo by Salvador Padilla, 42, a utility worker. Both work at the Our Lady of Lilies Academy in Urdaneta.

Police said Tani and Padilla took part in a drinking session and the utility man later drove Tani to his house in Barangay Sto. Domingo on a motorcycle.

After Tani had alighted from the motorcycle, police said Padilla pulled out a gun and shot him twice, hitting him in different parts of the body.

Padilla was arrested a few hours later.

Seized from him was .38 caliber pistol and bullets. Police said Padilla will be facing a murder charge. CBB/rga
