Toyota van taken by carnappers in broad daylight in QC

MANILA, Philippines—Despite an expanded anti-carnapping division at the Quezon City Police District, car robberies continue to take place in the city in broad daylight.

A police report stated that armed men on board a motorcycle forcibly took a black Toyota Hi-Ace Grandia with plate number NOY-227 from its driver in Barangay Balingasa, Quezon City at around 11:30 a.m. on Monday.

PO3 Ernesto Fabre of the Quezon City Police District said the van’s driver Joemarie Billotes, said the carnappers, armed with a small firearm, took the van while he was waiting for his employer.

He told police he was seated on the driver’s seat when he noticed the pair arrived on a yellow motorcycle.

He said one of them alighted from the motorcycle and casually approached him and pointed a gun at him.

The carnapper then asked him at gunpoint to get out of the vehicle.

The carnapper, he said, took over the steering wheel of the Grandia, then drove towards EDSA followed by his cohort, on board the motorcyle.

Fabre said the driver failed to get the plate number of the motorcycle, but said he could recognize them if he saw them again.
