Gov’t work until 3 p.m. only on Holy Wednesday
Malacañang on Wednesday suspended work in government offices starting 3:00 p.m. onward.
Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea issued and signed Memorandum No. 17 suspending government work. Medialdea is the government caretaker while President Rodrigo Duterte is on state visits to the Middle East.

“To provide government employees full opportunity to properly observe 13-14 April 2017 (Maundy Thursday and Good Friday), regular holidays, and 15 April 2017 (Black Saturday), a declared Special (Non-Working) Day, and to allow them to and from different regions in the country, work in government offices on 12 April 2017 is hereby suspended from 3 o’clock in the afternoon onwards,” the memorandum read.
“It is understood, however, that agencies, whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital public services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services,” it added.
