SUPPORT for a master plan to develop Cebu as “Mega Cebu” came from another Cebuano legislator.
“Keeping lines of communication is always beneficial. Whether it’s formal or informal, it’s always good for LGUs to communicate,” said Rep. Luigi Quisumbing of Cebu’s 6th district.
Cebu business groups earlier pushed for an inter-local government unit coordination within Metro Cebu to address common concerns such as infrastructure, traffic and drainage.
Quisumbing voiced his support for Mega Cebu after he inaugurated several infrastructure projects worth P25 million in Mandaue City and Consolacion yesterday.
These are the road rehabilitation on FF Cabahug to Logarta Street in barangay Subangdako, the asphalting of Tipolo road, the asphalting of Canduman road and the concreting of Jugan-Tayud, Consolacion road.
Quisumbing said these roads needed immediate repair.
He said though the Jugan-Tayud road is already completed, a new road in the area still needs to be opened that could be used as diversionary route to Liloan town.
A mall is set to open next month in Consolacion and it is expected to worsen the traffic situation in the area, Quisumbing said.
“All vehicles coming as far as Bogo, Medellin and others pass in Consolacion and we need to have a bypass road for the vehicles,” the lawmaker said.
Quisumbing also said the P45-million drainage rehabilitation on A. S. Fortuna will start next week.
He said he asked Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio Singson to order the implementation of the drainage rehabilitation to prevent flooding in the area.
