DID YOU KNOW: National Commission for Culture and the Arts

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) which holds office in Intramuros, Manila, was created through Republic Act No. 7356 signed on April 3, 1992, by then President Corazon Aquino. On March 5, 1999, by virtue of Executive Order No. 80, the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Commission on Filipino Language, National Museum, National Historical Institute, National Library, and Records Management and Archives Office were placed under the NCCA umbrella. The NCCA logo is called the “Alab ng Haraya” (flame of imagination) which shows flames on a three-tiered censer, symbolizing the wellspring of Filipino art and culture. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research. —Inquirer.net
