The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned the public against the purchase and consumption of six unregistered food products.
In an advisory, the FDA said it found out that the food products Tesorio Banana Crackers with Honey, Heredero’s Best Palawan Spicy Dilis, Tropical Herbal Syrup, Real’s Food Products Banana Crackers, Rum Cashew Otap, and Fatz Food Delicacies Ube Pastillas were all unregistered.
“FDA postmarketing surveillance activities have verified that the mentioned food products have not gone through the registration process of the agency and have not been issued the proper authorization in the form of [a] certificate of product registration,” it added.
The agency explained that it could not guarantee the six food products’ quality and safety since these did not go through FDA’s evaluation and testing process.
“The consumption of such violative products may pose potential health hazards to the consuming public,” it said.
At the same time, under the FDA Act of 2009, the manufacture, importation, exportation, sale, offer for sale, distribution, transfer, nonconsumer use, promotion, advertising or sponsorship of food products without proper authorization from the agency is prohibited.
“All concerned establishments are warned not to distribute the violative food products. Otherwise, regulatory actions and sanctions shall be strictly pursued,” the FDA said.
It also urged all local government units and law enforcement agencies to ensure that the six products were not being sold or made available in their localities or areas of jurisdiction.
