The Philippine Eagle Foundation successfully bred and hatched in captivity its first Pinsker’s hawk-eagle (Nisaetus pinskeri) in Davao City. The Pinsker’s hawk-eagle, which is endemic to the Philippines, is considered a threatened bird species because of loss of its natural habitat.
April 3, 1898
Pantaleon Villegas, alias Leon Kilat, led an attack against a Spanish camp in Cebu City, Cebu province. The fighting, now known as the “Battle of Tres de Abril,” marked the beginning of the revolution in Cebu, according to historian Teodoro Kalaw.

A dance festival in the town of Bindoy in Negros Oriental province, wherein the choreography is based on Philippine folk dances. The festival also coincides with the feast of the town’s patron saint, Vincent Ferrer.

Panagabuos Festival
Locals of Banna town in Ilocos Norte province feature in a dance parade the art of gathering weaver ant eggs, which is the town’s exotic delicacy called “buos” in Ilokano. Buos is rich in protein and can be cooked as adobo and sinigang or as an ingredient for pizza.

Lubao Hot Air Balloon Festival
International balloon pilots participate in this annual festival in Barangay Prado Siongco in Lubao town, Pampanga province. Local and foreign tourists watch the various events, such as the aerial show, night glow, balloon flight and fireworks display.

Lang-ay Cultural Festival
The cultural heritage of the people of Bontoc town in Mountain Province and the town’s founding anniversary are celebrated through street dancing, theater shows, sports competitions and agri-trade fairs.
