Tawi-Tawi solon granted travel for peace talks anew

The Sandiganbayan has allowed Tawi-Tawi Rep. Ruby Sahali Tan to travel to The Netherlands to join the fourth round of peace talks between the government and the National Democratic Front in April.

In open court, the anti-graft court Sixth Division granted anew Tan’s motion to travel abroad for the peace talks from April 2 to 6.

The court also allowed Tan to make a sidetrip to Italy, United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, and France from April 7 to 20 to meet overseas Filipino communities there.

Tan was invited by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process to join the peace talks as chairperson of the House committee on peace, reconciliation and unity.

Tan was earlier allowed by the court to attend the previous rounds of peace talks between government and the communist rebels.

Tan faces six counts of violating Section 8 of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees for failing to file her Statement of Assets and Liabilities Net worth under oath or on time when she was the vice-governor of Tawi-Tawi from 2008 to 2013. JE/rga
