Katherine de Castro, tourism undersecretary for tourism advocacy and public affairs, said the additional flights would enhance Northern Mindanao’s tourism industry.

Alexander Lao, Cebgo president and chief executive officer, said more flights would “not only boost tourism but also increase trade” between Visayas and Mindanao.

“Movement of goods between these islands will also be facilitated,” Lao said.

Cebu Pacific serves the Laguindingan-Tagbilaran route four times weekly (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) and the Laguindingan-Bacolod route thrice a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays).

The airline said it would be using ATR aircraft for both routes. —JIGGER JERUSALEM
