3 dead in bus, car collision in Albay

CAMALIG, Albay – Three persons died while a still undetermined number of people were hurt in a collision between a bus and a car along Maharlika Highway in Barangay (village) Ilawod in this town Monday night, police said Tuesday.

Initial investigation conducted by the Camalig police revealed that the Toyota Altis was traveling from Guinobatan town to Legazpi City when it accidentally collided with a Philtanco bus traversing the opposite direction around 9:45 p.m.

The dead and the wounded have not been named.

The bus driver Neil Pinongpong, 33, a resident of Hagonoy town in Davao Del Sur, was temporary held at the Camalig police station. Public utility drivers who figure in accidents are usually charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and serious physical injuries if an investigation shows they are at fault.  SFM
