Suspect in Pempengco slay charged with murder

MANILA, Philippines—The suspect in the killing of Charice Pempengco’s father was charged with murder Friday morning, San Pedro, Laguna police chief Superintendent Kirby Kraft said.

In a text message, Kraft said that Angel Capili Jr. was formally charged with murder at the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor in San Pedro, Laguna.
Capili surrendered to Gen. Trias, Cavite Mayor Luis Ferrer IV Thursday afternoon. He admitted to stabbing Ricky Pempengco with a screwdriver last Monday but said that he acted in self-defense after the estranged father of Charice allegedly punched him.
