Malacañang expressed sympathies to the family of former senator Leticia Ramos-Shahani who died on Monday.

“The Palace is saddened by the news of former senator and career diplomat Leticia Ramos Shahani’s passing this morning,” Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella.
“Senator Shahani served the nation well as Senator of the Republic and worked tirelessly in the executive branch in various capacities under different administrations,” Abella said. “Our condolences and prayers to the family and friends of the former Senator.”
He called Shahani a “profound humanist” whose “voice will be missed.”
Shahani died due to complications caused by stage 4 colon cancer.
She was the sister of former President Fidel V. Ramos. Besides working as a lawmaker, she spent 20 years in the foreign service as Philippine ambassador to various countries and United Nations Secretary General for Social Development and Humanitarian Affairs. JE/rga
