MAN STABBED IN LAPU

A MAN was stabbed and wounded by unidentified attackers in barangay Pajac, Lapu-Lapu City, past midnight yesterday.

Jomar Montebon sustained a stab wound in the abdomen. Police said Montebon had a drinking session with friends in a store. Montebon’s friends went home ahead.

Later, Montebon decided to go home. Two men waylaid him while he was walking.

A MAN was shot dead by his neighbor following a confrontation over an old grudge in barangay Lunas, Asturias town, northern Cebu, last Wednesday morning.

Israel Gemarino suffered gunshot wounds in the body. His head was also struck with a piece of wood by the suspect, Renante Rebacca, 34.

Police said Gemarino and Rebacca, 34, argued under a mango tree where the victim allegedly drew a gun.

Rebacca managed to grab the gun. Gemarino ran but was chased and shot by Rebacca.

Gemarino fell to the ground. When the gun ran out of bullets, Rebacca took a piece of wood, which he used in hitting the victim.

Responding police arrested the suspect, who will be charged with murder. RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL
