LUCENA CITY – A man was shot dead while attending the burial of a person he was suspected to have killed in San Narciso town in Quezon province on Friday, police said Saturday.

Senior Insp. Marcelito Platino, San Narciso police chief, said an unidentified gunman shot Jonel Arinola, 24, on his head during the burial of one Allan Sanchez in a cemetery in Barangay Pagkakaisa
around 11:30 a.m. The victim died while being taken to the San Narciso hospital.

“We’re looking at revenge as one the most likely motives behind the killing of Arinola,” Platino said in a phone interview Saturday.

Quoting witnesses, Platino said the gunman during the shooting was heard saying: “Pinatay mo ang pamangkin ko na walang kalaban-laban (You killed my defenseless nephew)”. Police found two empty shells and one unfired bullet for a caliber .45 pistol at the crime scene.

Platino said the victim was one of the seven suspects in the killing of Sanchez in Catanauan town also in Quezon province on Feb. 18. Catanauan police report said Sanchez, 30, and his companions were
resting at the construction site in Barangay Tuhian when seven unidentified suspects arrived and shot the victim dead. CDG
