LUCENA CITY, Quezon—Police on Thursday arrested a former town councilor and his associate inside a videoke bar in Infanta town in Quezon province on charges of illegal possession of firearm, police said Friday.

Reports said Ruel Valencia, 49, former councilor in the island town of Panukulan, was arrested after a policeman saw him passing his .45 cal. pistol to his associate, Janmer Pradillada, inside the bar in Barangay Comon at 9:30 p.m.

Police Officer 2 Ian Rey Abitona, who was conducting surveillance inside the bar, said the two suspects failed to produce valid license for the loaded firearm.

Another magazine with six bullets was recovered from Valencia./rga
