Victims of the “rent-tangay” scheme urged the Department of Justice (DOJ) to issue an immigration lookout bulletin order (ILBO) against one of the alleged swindlers.

Former Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) board member Ariel Inton accompanied 60 individuals to the DOJ to request that suspect Tychicus Historillo Nambio be included in the ILBO.

The victims also urged the DOJ to investigate the involvement of Rafaela Anunciacion and Lea Constantino Rosales in the scheme.

“We ask the DOJ to take cognizance of the case already because this is a high profile case. The magnitude of this modus operandi is great and has already affected a lot of people. Fortunately the DOJ saw the magnitude of the problem and they said they would take an active role in solving this case,” said Inton who is acting as the lawyer of the complainants.

He said they have information that Nambio is currently detained in Laguna for estafa. However, Inton said they fear that he may post bail and leave the country.

“We have [information] from sources of complaints he [Mr. Nambio] wil leave country anytime. We ask DOJ to take cognizance of the case because this is a (really) high-profile case talaga. Grabe magnitude ng pinsala sa tao. (The case has a big impact on the people.)” Mr. Inton said.

In the rent-tangay scheme, the suspects would pose as renters of private vehicles and pay an agreed amount. Then, the suspects will pawn to another person the rented vehicle.

The suspects would allegedly rent the P25,000 to P45,000 for three months depending on the type of vehicle while they will collect P200,000 to P400,000 to a third party.
