LUCENA CITY—Police arrested two persons in Candelaria town in Quezon province early Thursday on charges of illegal possession of firearms, police said.
Senior Supt. Rhoderick Armamento, Quezon police provincial director, said local operatives armed with search warrants swooped down on the houses of Patricio Clanor Dimaunahan and Ariel Comia Scal in Barangay (village) Sta. Catalina Norte around 5:30 a.m.
Dimaunahan yielded one caliber .38 revolver loaded with five bullets while Scal was caught with one caliber .25 pistol with one magazine loaded with five ammunitions. The firearms were both undocumented.
Armamento said concerned villagers tipped off the police on the illegal firearms. The raid was part of the continuous police anti-criminality campaign called “Oplan Trojan War.”
The suspects were detained in the Candelaria police jail while charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition under Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition were being prepared. RAM/rga
