Police task force formed to track down killer of Charice’s pa

MANILA, Philippines—Authorities said on Wednesday that they have formed tracker teams to search for the suspect in the murder of Ricky Pempengco, international singer Charice’s  estranged father.
Superintendent John Kirby Kraft, San Pedro police chief, said that Task Force Pempengco was formed on Tuesday and was composed of officers from the San Pedro police.

He said that several tracker teams had to be sent out as varying information reaching them pointed to several locations where the suspect Angel Capili may be hiding including the provinces of Laguna, Quezon, Batangas, and Cavite.

Capili was a native of Laram village in San Pedro, Laguna, where Pempengco also lived but moved away in 2005. He went back on October 31 to visit friends, said Kraft.

The police chief said that the suspect had previously figured in a stabbing incident when he still resided in Laram.

Pempengco was stabbed dead with an ice pick while he was buying cigarettes before midnight on Monday.
