3 nabbed in anti-drug operations in Bohol

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol – Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-Bohol arrested three men in separate anti-drug operations in this city on Thursday night.

Emeterio Bautista, 41, Quirico Castillon, 45 and Noel Paredes, 25 were detained at the NBI detention cell pending filing of charges of possession and sale of illegal drugs.

The operatives arrested Bautista, a tricycle driver, who was allegedly selling shabu near a mall on Thursday around 7 p.m.

Recovered from Bautista were two small sachets of suspected shabu.

An hour later, the NBI agents spotted Castillon, a driver of a tourist bus, and his runner, Paredes, selling shabu, said lawyer Arcelito Albao, NBI supervising agent.

The agents then set up a sting operation. An undercover agent bought P1,000 worth of shabu from the suspects.

Seized from the suspects were one small and one medium-size sachet of suspected shabu and marked money.

According to lawyer Rennan Augustus Oliva, head of NBI-Bohol, there are still illegal drug trade operations in the province, a popular tourist destination. CDG/rga
