Classes in parts of Manila suspended on Friday
Manila Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada has suspended classes in some parts of Manila and work in city government offices on Friday, January 27, a day before the observance of Chinese New Year.
The mayor on Wednesday issued Executive Order No. 2 announcing the suspension of classes for all levels in universities, colleges and schools in District III (Binondo, Sta. Cruz. and Quiapo).
Government offices involved in the maintenance of peace and order, traffic enforcement, disaster and risk reduction management, health and sanitation are exempted from the work suspension.
Estrada said that the work suspension has been recommended “for public order, safety, convenience, and to reduce the traffic congestion during the occasion.”
This year’s Chinese New Year is on January 28. JE
