DID YOU KNOW: The Mercantile Register of the Manila

On Jan. 20, 1824, the Royal Economic Society published the Registro Mercantil de Manila (The Mercantile Register of the Manila). Its aim was to inform citizens about matters regarding business and trade in the archipelago. It ceased publication after May 1833 due to lack of funds. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
