Cops nab 4 Ecija village chiefs for drugs

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Two barangay (village) chairmen in Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija, were arrested for allegedly selling illegal drugs. Another suspect eluded arrest, the police said.

Nabbed in simultaneous court-mandated searches on Sunday (Jan. 15) were Barangay Bintegan Chairman Jaime Dumandan and Barangay Bantug Chairman Joel Alonzo.

Police reported recovering seven sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) from the village chiefs.

Barangay Bulala Chairman Benedicto Monses was not around during a search that yielded three sachets of suspected shabu.

On Friday (Jan. 13), police arrested Barangay Gomez Chairman Reynaldo Santos and Barangay Casile Chairman Abundo Inovero of Llanera, Nueva Ecija, during raids conducted at their respective houses.

Santos was caught with four sachets of suspected shabu and a 12-gauge shotgun while the police recovered four sachets of suspected shabu and a rifle from Inovero’s residence.  SFM
