4-year-old boy stabbed by aunt’s live-in partner in critical condition—police

MANILA, Philippines—The four-year-old victim who was stabbed with a kitchen knife by his aunt’s live-in partner in Camarin, Caloocan City, before midnight Sunday is in critical condition, police said Monday.

According to case investigator Police Officer 2 Mark Andrew Bartolome, the boy’s stab wound that was inflicted on him by his aunt’s partner, Constancio Antillon, is just few inches away from his bladder.

“The opening of his wound is comparable to the size of a kitchen saucer,” Bartolome said in Filipino.

The investigator also said that the two other victims—Edwina Borromeo, 41, and her 16-year-old niece—underwent surgery early Monday.

The victims were rushed to Jose Rodriguez Hospital in Caloocan after the incident, but was later transferred to the East Avenue Medical Center in Quezon City, police said.

The attack came after a heated argument between partners Borromeo and Antillon over issues of infidelity, Bartolome said.

Some minutes before the phone interview, Bartolome told the INQUIRER.net that they would be leaving in a few minutes to take Antillon to the city prosecutor for inquest.

The suspect may face charges of multiple frustrated murder in relation to Republic Act 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004, and Republic Act 7610, or the Protection against Child Abuse, Bartolome said.
