LUCENA CITY – Three persons were injured after two trucks accidentally collided along the Maharlika Highway in nearby Tayabas City Thursday morning, police said.

Supt. Art Brual, Tayabas police chief, said as one Fuzu dump truck was traversing the Maharlika Highway in Barangay (village) Isabang and about to enter the diversion road going to Lucena City, its driver
Raymar Jimenez suddenly lost control of his vehicle around 9:45 a.m. The truck then sideswiped the incoming Isuzu Elf driven by Ronald Cailaw.

Cailaw was pinned down inside his wrecked vehicle. Policemen and rescuers from nearby Sariaya town extricated him.

“The rescuers took more than 30 minutes before they were able to remove the driver from inside the vehicle,” Flovic Tariga, driver of Sariaya local government ambulance told the Inquirer in an online
interview.

Both drivers and Armando Mandani Camo, passenger of the Isuzu Elf, sustained injuries in different parts of the body and were brought to Lucena Doctors Hospital. The accident caused heavy traffic along the Maharlika Highway.

“The highway is wet and slippery due to continuous rains. Please observe all safety precautions,” Senior Supt. Rhoderick Armamento, Quezon police director, advised.
