PCG launches search, rescue for vessel adrift off Batangas

The Philippine Coast Guard has sent a team to conduct search and rescue operation after receiving information that a vessel, MV Shuttle Roro 5, has drifted in the waters off Mabini San Miguel, Batangas.

The vessel is reportedly about to sink and crew are preparing to abandon ship.

Meanwhile, according to PCG spokesperson Cmdr Armand Balilo, the following vessels were visually identified to be beached in the shores of Barangay San Antonio, Puerto Galera:

  • Baleno5
  • Baleno7
  • Baleno8
  • Starlite Polaris
  • Starlite Bluesea

Personnel of CGSS Puerto Galera are trying to determine the damage sustained by said vessels.

A report from CGS Oriental Mindoro said that so far, there are no signs of oil spill due to the incident. JE/rga
