Mother killed, 6 hurt in Pangasinan road collision

DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan — A 48-year-old mother was killed, while two members of her family, three other children and a motorcycle driver were injured in a  Christmas Day (Dec. 25) road accident in Alaminos City, police said on Monday (Dec. 26).

Maria Jasmin Abarra died while she was being taken to the Western Pangasinan District Hospital, said Supt. Benjamin Ariola, Alaminos police chief.

Abarra’s husband, Danny, their son, Jero, 13, and three other children, Erickson Mendez, 13, Kim Carlo Roy, 11, and Luige Roy 9, were hurt in the accident that took place at about 2:45 p.m. at Barangay (village) Pandan.

Abarra and the four children were traveling on a tricycle being driven by her husband Danny when a motorcycle they were tailing suddenly took a left turn, causing the tricycle to crash onto the motorcyle and tumble on the road.

The motorcyle driver, Richard Fontanilla, 24, was also injured./rga
