LUCENA CITY—A total of 17,714 persons, corresponding to 3,933 families, were forced to flee their homes in Quezon province as typhoon “Nina” (international name: Nock-Ten) passed by Southern Tagalog Monday morning.

The evacuees were sheltered in 228 evacuation centers all over the province, Senior Supt. Rhoderick Armamento, Quezon police director, said.

Henry Buzar, Quezon disaster risk reduction and management council (DRRMC) officer, said “Nina” weakened as it entered Quezon.
