(Updated, 2:56 p.m.) A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck Eastern Samar on Thursday morning, state seismologists said.
In an advisory, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake at 11:02 a.m. centered about 17 kilometers southwest of Maydolong town.
Phivolcs said the quake, which was tectonic in origin, had a depth of 45 kilometers.
No damages and intensities in other areas were reported, but Phivolcs said aftershocks were expected.
Relatively weaker tremors were recorded in Maydolong before and after the 5.2-magnitude quake: magnitude 4.2 at 10:32 a.m., magnitude 3.4 at 10:57 a.m., magnitude 2.8 at 11:18 a.m., and magnitude 3.0 at 11:29 a.m. YG/IDL/rga
