2 killed in La Union bus collision

DAGUPAN CITY—Two buses collided in La Union on Thursday, killing two passengers and injuring 22 others.

Marlon Tumbaga and John Rey Brioso, both passengers of Vigan City-bound Dominion Bus, died when their bus collided with a Metro Manila-bound Partas Bus at 5:30 a.m. along the Manila North Road in Barangay (village) Santa Fe in Agoo town.

Seventeen of the 48 Dominion Bus passengers and five of the 10 Partas Bus passengers were immediately taken to a hospital for treatment, according to Chief Insp. Elpidio Cruz, Agoo police chief.

Cruz said the Partas bus veered into the opposite lane when it overtook another vehicle, and crashed head-on into the Dominion Bus.
