/ 09:43 PM October 30, 2011

A security guard was shot dead during a night out with friends in Sampaloc, Manila, Sunday morning. Neil Palaca, 19, a resident of San Pedro, Laguna, was having drinks with coworkers at the Shotgrills Beerhouse on SH  Loyola Street when he was killed by a still unidentified man.

Case investigator Senior Police Officer 1 Giovanni Valera of the Manila Police District Homicide section said Palaca had just stepped out of the establishment for a walk when he was shot in the head.

The shooter was in a tricycle, which sped away after Palaca slumped to the ground. One of the last people to see Palaca alive was fellow security guard Aldorn Labores, 29. He said they had gone to the beerhouse at around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday for some drinks before Palaca stepped out for a walk.—Jaymee T. Gamil
