5 members of drug group nabbed in Pampanga

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—Five members of the Manarang drug group operating in this Pampanga capital were arrested by the police on Friday.

Brothers Manuel and Frank Manarang, their sister-in-law Consorcia and alleged accomplices Gerson Nugoy and Mark Alegre, were caught in an 8 a.m. buy-bust operation in San Jose village.

The police seized 14 plastic sachets containing a still undetermined amount of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu,” a bank passbook, four mobile telephones and the marked money used to snare the suspects.

No information was provided regarding the extent of operations of the group, its leaders, its drug trafficking network and the source of its shabu supply. Five shabu laboratories have been dismantled in Pampanga in the last three years. RAM/rga
