DAGUPAN CITY — A policeman, who had been absent without official leave, was shot and killed early Wednesday in Mangaldan, Pangasinan province, during a drug bust, according to Senior Supt. Ronald Oliver Lee, provincial director.
PO1 Donald Sanchez, a resident of San Carlos City, drew his gun and fired when he sensed that he was transacting with law enforcers at 12:20 a.m. on the boundary of the villages of David in Mangaldan and Nilombot in adjacent Mapandan town, Lee said.

He was shot in an ensuing clash with law enforcers.

Sanchez was taken to the Mapandan Community Hospital but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Lee said Sanchez was listed as a high-value drug suspect in Pangasinan. He is also allegedly a member of gun-for-hire groups in Pangasinan and Nueva Ecija and was allegedly involved in  gas station robberies. CBB
