DID YOU KNOW: Linggo ng Kabataan

Linggo ng Kabataan was originally observed from Sept. 25 to 30 by virtue of Proclamation No. 56 signed on Sept. 22, 1992. But on Nov. 23, 1992, then President Fidel Ramos signed Proclamation No. 99 transferring the celebration to the second week of December every year. The celebration honors young Filipino heroes who made significant contributions to the country’s development. The Sangguniang Kabataan and the Local Youth Development Council, in cooperation with the Pederasyon ng mga Sangguniang Kabataan, take the lead in its observance.—MARIELLE MEDINA, INQUIRER RESEARCH
