QC cops kill 7, including trash collectors ‘wielding guns’
Antidrug operations by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Tuesday and Wednesday led to the death of all seven targets, who allegedly shot it out with the lawmen.
Three of the fatalities were described in QCPD reports as garbage collectors—who apparently had the means to acquire firearms.
Around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, a drug sting by QCPD-Batasan policemen in Barangay Payatas B took out three residents.
They were killed in separate buy-bust operations conducted on Chocolate Hills corner Bicol Street Extension, where the police said they met them for drug transactions in their shanties.
3 neighbors slain
One operation ended in the killing of a man known only as “Buhay” and his unidentified companion. Another drug-bust cornered their neighbor, 30-year-old scavenger Constantino de Juan.
Article continues after this advertisementThe QCPD said two .38-caliber revolvers, a .45-caliber pistol and five sachets of suspected “shabu” were recovered from the three slain suspects.
Article continues after this advertisementAround 7:30 p.m. in Barangay San Bartolome, a police team was scouring the area along Ivory Riverside when Alvin David, 25, suddenly pulled out a handgun and engaged the officers in a gunfight.
David was brought to Quezon City General Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Tokhang surrenderer
Investigation showed that David surrendered in July under Oplan Tokhang but continued using drugs. He was also being linked to robberies and motorcycle thefts in Novaliches.
The police found a sachet of shabu in David’s pocket.
Three hours later, in Barangay Bagong Silangan, garbage collectors Jerry Baldoza and Ronaldo Morales were killed also in a buy-bust operation, the QCPD said.
A “shootout” erupted between the suspects and the officers, killing Morales on the spot.
Baldoza managed to run to his house but was also shot dead by pursuing officers.
On Wednesday, Jessie Malamug was killed after allegedly firing at QCPD men in a drug sting in Barangay Greater Fairview around 2:45 a.m.
