Mylene Son, wife of Chief Inspector Jesus Son, appeared at the Senate investigation looking into the death of Albuera mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr.
Son’s husband was killed in an ambush last Sept. 16.
Reading a prepared statement, Son said that her husband turned down a “special project” by CIDG Region 8 director Superintendent Marvin Marcos to look for an asset who would be paid P500,000 to kill Espinosa.
She said Marcos was furious when her husband turned down the project.
A day before her husband was killed, he posted a Facebook status meant for Marcos: “Subukan mo akong hamunin ng harapan, I’m sure may mamamatay sa atin.”
“What I told you today was all according to my husband and all true,” she said.
She added that coming out meant putting their lives in danger: “I fear for the lives of my loved ones. My husband, who was known to many as brave, was killed. How much more for us?”
Marcos was the head of the CIDG unit that raided Espinosa’s cell in Baybay, Leyte, sub-provincial jail last Nov. 5, during which the mayor was killed. CBB/rga
