DID YOU KNOW: Pasay foundation day

01:24 AM December 02, 2016

The city of Pasay celebrates its foundation day every Dec. 2. According to historical accounts, the name of the city of Pasay came after the name of the princess of the Namayan Kingdom, Dayang-dayang Pasay who inherited the lands now comprising the territories of Culi-culi, Pasay, and Baclaran. In 1862, citizens of Pasay sent a petition to authorities asking that they be allowed to manage their own affairs. On Dec. 2, 1863, Pasay became a pueblo. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
