Maynilad repairs to affect QC supply next week
Customers of Maynilad Water Services Inc. in 15 barangays of Quezon City are advised to prepare for a 43-hour service interruption from Dec. 5 to 7. Maynilad said a defective valve must be replaced along the company’s primary line on Tandang Sora Avenue in Talipapa. The service interruption is expected to start 8 p.m. on Monday and last up to 4 p.m. on Wednesday. The affected areas include Apolonio Samson, Baesa, Bahay Toro, Bungad, Damayan, Del Monte, Katipunan, Mariblo, Paltok, Paraiso, San Antonio, Sangandaan, Talipapa, Tandang Sora, and Veterans Village. “It is essential that we have this defective valve replaced immediately to prevent any problems from occurring in the future,” Ronaldo Padua, Maynilad’s chief of water supply operations, said in a statement. Maynilad is putting 14 water tanks on standby to help minimize the inconvenience caused by the interruption. —Ronnel W. Domingo

Nighttime shoppers can expect brighter Divisoria
The market district of Divisoria, Manila, has been made brighter this Christmas with the installation of 137 new lamp posts, according to City Hall. Mayor Joseph Estrada on Thursday said the new lamp posts improved the illumination of Benavidez and Asuncion streets, two of Divisoria’s busiest areas. Engr. Lorenzo Alconera, head of the City Electrical Division, said the covered areas stretch for about 1.5 kilometers. Under a P100-million lighting project, the city government has so far installed new lamp posts also on Dapitan, Moriones, Del Pilar, Mabini, Pedro Gil, Onyx, and Oroquieta, and portions of Roxas Boulevard, Taft Avenue, Vito Cruz, UN Avenue, and Quirino Avenue, among others. —Kristine Felisse Mangunay
