‘Marce’ intensifies into tropical storm, to exit PAR Sunday

Tropical cyclone Marce has intensified into a tropical storm as it headed toward Panay Island on Friday morning.

Signal No. 2 was raised over Romblon, Calamian Group of Islands, Southern Occidental Mindoro and Southern Oriental Mindoro, Northern Negros Occidental, Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan and Northern Antique.

Northern Palawan including Cuyo Island, Rest of Oriental Mindoro, Rest of Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Island and Masbate including Burias and Ticao Island, Biliran, Samar, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Bohol, Cebu including Bantayan and Camotes Islands, Negros Oriental, Rest of Negros Occidental, and Guimaras were placed under Signal No. 1.

Marce packed maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 110 kph. It moved west northwest at 22 kph, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

The storm was last tracked 15 kilometers north northeast of Roxas City, Capiz. It is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Sunday evening.

Pagasa also warned of risky sea travel over the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon and the seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon. CDG
