‘Marce’ slams Siargao Island

Tropical Depression “Marce”  made landfall over Siargao Island in Surigao del Norte on Thursday afternoon.

Signal No. 1 was placed over Romblon, Cuyo Island, Calamian Group and Southern part of Mindoro provinces, Biliran, Southern part of Samar, Southern part of eastern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Bohol, Cebu including Bantayan and Camotes Islands, Siquijor, Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental, Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan, Antique, Guimaras, Surigao del Norte including Siargao Island, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Misamis Oriental and Camiguin.

The tropical depression slightly accelerated at 19 kilometers per hour (kph) northwest, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said in its 5 p.m. bulletin.

Marce was last located 60 kilometers east southeast of Surigao City, packing maximum sustained winds of up to 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 55 kph.
