CEBU CITY– Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation in Bohol (NBI-Bohol) have expressed desire to help the Philippine National Police in the war against drugs, saying they understand the complexity and difficulty of stopping the drug trade that has been happening through the province.

The NBI Bohol has arrested at least 100 drug suspects and confiscated about P5 million worth of illegal drugs since January 2016.

Based on its records, the satellite office of the NBI arrested drug pushers from the provinces of Cebu, Leyte, Davao, Bukidnon, Agusan, and Misamis.

Lawyer Rennan Augustus Oliva, NBI-Bohol chief, hoped that they and the PNP would be able to eradicate illegal drugs on the island.

Although the task to get rid of illegal drugs has been placed with the PNP, the NBI-Bohol would like to assist the PNP, he added.

Oliva said Bohol has been used as an easy trans-shipment point as it is connected to Cebu, Leyte and Mindanao provinces.

“Bohol has its share of drug problem because of the many islands comprising it. It is accessible from Cebu, Leyte, and Mindanao,” he said.  SFM
