De Lima hits back at Alvarez for calling her a ‘serial liar’

Senator Leila de Lima hit back at Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez on Thursday, calling him narrow-minded, rude and disrespectful.
De Lima said Alvarez’s statement that she was a “serial liar” did not only show how narrow his mind was but it also proved that the Speaker had prejudged her.

“Ipinapakita lang ng pahayag na ito kung gaano kakitid ang pag-iisip ni House Speaker Alvarez. Pinapatibay din nito kung paanong nahusgahan na ako ng naturingang pinuno ng Kamara de Representantes, bago pa man ang sinasabing ‘in aid of legislation’ kuno na pagdinig sa diumano’y paglaganap ng ilegal na droga sa Bilibid,” she said in a statement.
She was referring to the ongoing House’s investigation on the alleged proliferation of illegal drugs at the New Bilibid Prison under her watch as Justice Secretary.
Article continues after this advertisementDe Lima noted that Alvarez was among the persons who were trying to implicate her in illegal drugs. The House leader, she said, was also the one who wanted her alleged sex scandal shown in the House probe.

“Malinaw naman na ang tono ni Ginoong Alvarez ay kapareho rin ng kanyang Mahal na Poong Duterte. Naging bukambibig na nila ang husgahan at hiyain ako sa publiko kahit imbento lang naman ang kanilang mga ebidensya,” said the senator.
De Lima said her accusers had nothing against her but the the testimony of drug convicts, who she said had personal motives against her and were forced to testify against her.
“Ang sa akin lang, bago pa man magsalita si Ginoong Alvarez, at ang mga kagaya niya sa Kamara at sa sangay ng Ehekutibo, subukan muna nilang humarap sa salamin, at makikita nila kung sino ang bastos, walang galang sa kababaihan, at tunay na mga sinungaling,” she said. CBB/rga
