In a phone interview, Cabatingan said the incident happened around 6:30 a.m. at a public market in Barangay Batong Malake.

Damaso owned a vegetable stall while Danilo was engaged in money lending, Cabatingan said. The police said both of them were carrying bolos knives.

“They just started stabbing each other several times. The village watchmen could not break them up and this lasted for like five minutes,” Cabatingan said.

The police said they were looking at an “old grudge” as motive in the fight as both men reportedly had also fought at home last night. CBB
