The new head of the Philippine Coconuts Authority (PCA) has taken his oath of office in Malacañang.

Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco Jr. administered the oath of office of PCA head Avelino “Billy” Andal on Monday during a simple ceremony.

Andal said he would address the problem of cocolisap infestation in Mindanao.

Farmers group earlier lauded the appointment of Andal, whom they consider “a trusted ally.

Andal is a former provincial board member and chair of the Rodrigo Duterte Volunteer Foundation during the election campaign. President Rodrigo Duterte signed his papers on November 8. KS/rga
