Cebu Pacific offers direct flight from Cebu City to Ormoc

ORMOC CITY—Cebu Pacific Air now offers a direct flight from Cebu City to Ormoc City in Leyte.

It made a maiden trip on Saturday with 55 passengers on board led by Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez.

The 72-seater, twin-engine turboprop ATR 72-500, left Mactan Cebu International Airport in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu at 7:40 a.m. and landed at the Ormoc airport at 8:25 a.m. or 45 minutes later.

The plane returned to Cebu at 8:40 a.m.

In his message read by Ormoc Vice Mayor Leo Carmelo Locsin, Gomez said the entry of Cebu Pacific in the city only means that Ormoc can now be reached by land, sea and air.

Ormoc can be accessed from Cebu City through a fastcraft but the trip is four hours long.

Gomez thanked Cebu Pacific for placing their trust and confidence on Ormoc since their decision to put up a flight to the city would bring in tourists here.

The Cebu-Ormoc-Cebu will be four times a week—Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. RAM/rga
