CITY OF CALAPAN, Philippines — A former councilor of Naujan, Oriental Mindoro, was shot dead by two gunmen riding-in-tandem Saturday afternoon, police said Sunday.

Supt. Imelda Tolentino, public information officer of Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan (Mimaropa) police, said Wilson Adra Viray, 51, was driving home in his car when the assailants struck in Sitio 5, Barangay (village) Sampaguita, at about 5 p.m.

Viray died from 13 gunshot wounds in different parts of the body.

His companion and passenger, Ellie Capacao Gomer, 28, a farmer from Barangay Paitan, was unhurt.

Recovered from the crime scene were six empty shells and two slugs from a caliber .45 pistol.

Naujan police have launched a manhunt for  the killers and an investigation to determine the motive behind the killing. CBB/rga
