“No one can judge me on my morality,” Senator Leila de Lima said on Wednesday after admitting that she had an affair with her former driver, Ronnie Dayan.

Dayan allegedly collected drug money for De Lima at the New Bilibid Prison when she was Justice Secretary, accusations she has repeatedly denied.

The senator also turned on the table on those, who have been calling for her resignation over her alleged involvement in illegal drugs and for having an affair with Dayan, who is a married man.

She claimed that Dayan was separated from his wife when they had an affair.

“Wala pong pwedeng pumilit sa akin. Sila ang dapat ang nagre-resign sa mga ginagawa nila. Wala silang qualms about doing all these things na ginagamit nila yung buong machinery, yung resources ng executive department… sa akin lang sila nakatuon,” de Lima said.

“Anong klaseng standards yan, anong klaseng mindest yan na since yun ang gusto ng Pangulo ginagawa din nila ang lahat—kahit yung pamimilit, pagco-coerce, pagba-blackmail ng mga witnesses…” she said.

She said those calling for her resignation should be the ones that should resign for using the entire machinery of government against her.

Among those who have called for her resignation are Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo and Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II. CBB
