Thunderstorm alert up in Metro Manila, nearby provinces

The public was warned to take precautionary measures against light to moderate with occasional heavy rains after thunderstorms hit Metro Manila and the provinces of Rizal and Quezon on Tuesday afternoon.

The state weather bureau issued a thunderstorm advisory at 12:56 p.m.

A thunderstorm is also expected over Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas within the next two hours. Expect light to moderate rains over Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Zambales and Bataan.

A tail-end of a cold front will bring cloudy skies with moderate to occasional heavy rains over the provinces of Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque and Camarines Norte, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

Light to moderate rains and thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of Calabarzon, rest of Bicol region and the provinces of Occidental Mindoro and Romblon. JE/rga
