Gwen turns over P3.1M to Liloan
Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia gave Liloan town in northern Cebu a budget of P3.1 million for projects in time of its mayor’s birthday yesterday.
Mayor Duke Frasco, who turned 31, inaugurated several infrastructure projects with Garcia, his mother-in-law, who announced the province’s gift to the town.
Frasco said he will use the P3.1 million to improve the town’s website.
Both officials inauguarated a three-classroom building for Tayud Elementary School as part of the province’s program.
The renovated Panphil B. Frasco Memorial Sports Complex was also inaugurated. The province gave P5-million for the renovation last year.
The complex was started 15 years ago by Frasco’s father, the late Panphil “Dodong Daku” Frasco.
Garcia also turned over a P500,000 budget for furniture and an ECG machine to the Liloan Community Medical Center, which was also blessed yesterday.
The medical center, which was inaugurated last year, has an emergency room, intensive care unit, a 10-bed lay-in facility and a pharmacy.
The town’s new fleet of vehicles was also blessed.
This includes a Toyota Hi-Ace van for the town council, a Toyota Hilux for the town’s local police, another Toyota Hilux for the Liloan Traffic Command and two dump trucks.
Mayor Frasco, in turn, gave the governor a lampshade as a token of gratitude.
Frasco is married to the governor’s eldest daughter, Christina, who is a lawyer and consultant in the provincial government. /Correspondent Carmel Loise Matus
